Farmall H puller

Hello everyone. I have a 1942 Farmall H that I pulled a couple times this summer. I am going to rebuild the motor this winter to add some power. My first question is that can I pull the sleeves out of the engine and run it sleevelss if the block is in good shape? I heard a rumer that you can run super H pistons in it with sleeves removed is this true? I will most likely put a 350 head on it and M carb. Thanks for any help.

yes you can run in the block, a Super H, 300, 350
heads are a good choice almost all the same. Get a
Super H, 300, 350 carb though, the M is too large
for the amount of cubes youll have.

Thanks for the help. What are the best pistons to use to raise the compression up in the motor and will they connect to the h rods?

Hello dirtfarmer629, I have recently received a 1949 H and plan on making her a competitive puller in my region so I'm in the same boat as you. I have been told that if you pull the sleeves from the block the 3-9/16 pistons from a farmall 300 should fit in. I plan on pulling the sleeves and boring the block to fit pistons out of a farmall 350. H's, 300's and 350's all have the same stroke so should work other than needing a new wrist pin bushing. Perhaps we can trade ideas and info. more?

High altitude IH, or Propane pistons will work, but require premium fuel.
Fire crater pistons are also good. Aftermarket has "domes" of many sizes. Jim

First off the 350 pistons and sleeves will fit an H block with some borring. the largest you can go in a stock block is 3.81inch bore. A properly worked H gas head can make more compression than a Super H, 300, or 350 head. You can make an honnest 46 horse on a dyno all day this way. With proper quench you can run a farmall H up to 9 to 1 compression ratio without detonation. And much higher than that on E-85.

Thanks for all the info. The reason I was asking about just putting bigger pistons in by leaving the sleeves out is because I do not plan on doing any work to the block don't want to get into boring it. I know you can put a 350 kit in a H my friend that pulls has one in his. My plans right now are to get the fire crater pistons and use an super H head and carb.
