H trans Reverse idler shaft install

I was reading in the I&T manual on transmission assembly and it says the reverse idler shaft bolt hole is drilled offset and needs to be properly lined to insure lube holes are lined up. Mine is not offset and looks like it wouldnt matter which way it went in. Any ideas? Its been awhile since I took it apart.

As long as the lube oil hole in shaft is visible in the oil trough oil will get to inside bushings just fine.

The idler shaft in the '51 H I have was like yours. It would work either way. Without a parts book nearby, I don't know it there was a running change made at some point. Just be sure the cross-hole can be seen from above through the catch cavity in the housing.

Thanks for the replies. Thats what I figured but I wanted to get some thoughts on it. Glad to be getting it back together. Should last a good long time now.
