Mag not firing

I have a farmall "M" that I use around my place and I never had any trouble geting it started. Sometimes it will sit for two months but usually always started. However, I recently tryed to start it and it hit a couple of times and then quit. I pulled the plugs and rotor cap and noticed that it wasn,t getting any fire. It has a magneto. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Could it be that the points in the mag are stuck shut, and if so, where are they located? My manuel dosen,t show a breakdown on magnetos.

Im not into IHC Mags whatsoever, buttttttttttt generally speaking the FIRST SUSPECT is points that are burned or pitted or carboned over NOT stuck shut as you asked. Often a good smooth buff down n clean n polish using a points file etc will get them running (or run a dollar bill between them if theyre only oxidized over) buttttttttttt if they are badly burned or pitted its time for a new set. Other problems may be the condensor or if it has any sort of push kill switch a short can develop which kills the spark deader n a doornail. The IHC mag gents can get you going I bet

I had to go through my H mag(which is the same mag as on the M) over the summer and I ended up putting in points, condenser, coil, point wire etc before I was through. It is doing well now, but it was a process. The folks on this board were very helpful, especially Janicholson. To get to your points remove the distributor cap and unscrew the three? screws you will find under there. Just keep taking it apart from there and you'll come to the points pretty soon. They're not hard to replace or to gap, especially if you had three arms.
