Ideas for Decals on Belly Mower.

Hey guys, I am re-doing a 1948 Farmall Cub and I am going to leave the Woods 42-C belly mower with it. I ended up painting the mower IH Red along with the tractor, and was wondering if any of you guys had any good suggestions for decals for the mower and where to put them. I am not wanting to go with the Woods decals, but something "custom" that looks nice along the IH or Farmall side.

I've thought about getting the plain "INTERNATIONAL" decals in black that are 17" long and putting them on each side on the rails that run from front to back.

I am still trying to decide on what to do on the Front of the Mower deck (the center large area). Thought about a big "IH" decal, but I just don't know. Since the deck is red, I dont know if it will look good.

I'd love to hear all of yalls comments/suggestions. I'm sure yall have seen something that looks cool and still looks good too. With all the tractors and tractor shows everyone has been to, I'm sure someone has done this.

Yall let me know what you think!!

If it is not IH then why do you want to use IH decals?? When I do mine for the Super A, I am going to try to get the paint close to original and use Woods decals, because that's what it is.

Because i dont know who sells woods decals, and im sure they are more than the $8 International decals. Im not goimg for originality, but very clean custom look. Im acting as if the tractor and mower are 1 unit, and it will represent the whole tractor as an IH and the belly mower doesnt look as plain as the tractor. If i were to re-paint it and decal the mower as orig. Specs, I'd have way too much money in it. I'll post some pictures a little later tonight of a 184 lo-boy i did a few months back. It will give you an idea of what im talking about.

To each his own, but if it's not IH I don't advertise it as IH. If I paint it a different color, that's ok, but it is not IH. Woods has a web site. Woods dealer can get the decals. Some things look too gussied up. You have a better chance of selling something if it is as close to original as possible.

I know what you mean, I did the 184 that had the Woods 59 deck on it, and still advertised it as a Woods 59 deck. However, I went ahead and painted it the IH Cream color to match the trim on the tractor. I called to get some Woods decals for it from a dealer, and they were ridiculously higher than normal IH decals. I had a budget on the 184, and there was no way I could do it.

I just don't want the mower to be painted and look plain. Since I painted the mower red, I figured I needed to do something to it to bring it out with the rest of the tractor.

Here is the 184. Notice on the rear belt cover, the Woods decal used to be there, now it has an IH decal. To me, its a nice touch and I like the color better than the original Woods Yellow because it blends better with the tractor, and still is better than someone painting one a "random" color that isn't a factory color found on the tractor somewhere.

Here is a picture of the other side of the tractor. I only added the 3 decals you see, so I didn't think it was too much. I've seen worse.

No, you're right. I prefer it to....to an extent. To me, a Woods belly mower painted IH Red with IH decals isn't that big a deal.

I think what you are going for would look decent. Yeah it wont make a "purist" happy, but it's yours! To me the word inernational down each side I think would be a nice touch. Like some 3-pt "bushhog" type mowers I've seen.
