Hello

My Farmall runs well without a load or moderate load. I'm pullin a
six ft tandem disc set to pull hard and the tractor misses then
looses momentum and power. No smoke from the exaust.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Wally

Have you timed it? Mine would run and drive and start really well, but wouldn't lug when it was out of time. Maybe it would have missed too if it was more out of time???

The fuel screw is supposed to be turned a full 3 turns out initial setting, which should be sufficient for pulling your disk. If the tractor were mine, I would turn that screw in gently until it stops, and then turn it back out 3 turns. If the tractor still stumbles and misses under load, turn that screw out 1 more turn, and possibly will need 2 more turns, for a total of 5 turns out, which is the max. If that doesn't cure it, you have problems that lie a bit deeper.

bad spark plugs, weak coil worn points can all cause engine miss when under load yet run smooth at light or no load. things to think about. leroy

I believe it is getting too little fuel through the sediment bowl and carb screen. It should flow like it was running through a sweetheart soda straw (1/8" stream) for at least a minute. Jim

Easy way to tell on my M if it was fuel issue is just as it starts to stubble choke it all the way. If it starts to come back to life I'd clean out the pipe above the sediment bowl. Then there's always the trick of removing the fuel cap to make sure air is getting back in the tank.
