IH super C w/ 2 point hitch and serial number??year

How does one speed up the downward action of the 2 point hitch. when I want my hitch to go down it is very slow. Is there a restrictor in the block in front of the seat ?? I do not use any heavy equipment on the tractor.. just a blade.. also can anyone tell me the year this was built??? s/n is 173847
 
Yes, the block in front of the seat is designed to slow down the hitch when lowered. The reason for this is not to slam the implement into the ground such a disk harrow, or plow. It adds control on the way down otherwise you just slam them. You can remove the block, and you will have fast down as well. I have also seen people drill them out as well.

It's the block ahead of the seat. I drilled two of the holes out in mine probably ten years ago so don't remember much about it but it works good now. It's just a hair slower going down as it is up. I think if you take that valve apart you will find that only two of the hose ports can be drilled. Don't go crazy with the drill bit size.
 
thank you to the member and his suggestions on how to speed up hydro hitch on my S C opened the orifice to 19/64 drill size thanks
