H re-build kit

Where is a good place to get a complete overhaul kit for a farmall H. heard A&I is the worst out there and dont know how CNH parts compare so what is your guys opinions?
TIA

the last kit i bought from this site for a super m, no problems. if you are getting the crankshaft cut, have your machine shop get the bearings for mains and rods.

If you're thinking Tisco, you may be right, I think they rule a good majority of the market. I'm not sure which brand this site uses, but the usual overhaul kit is Tisco i.e. through Fleet & Farm, CaseIH, etc. You can overhaul your H with CaseIH parts. They charge by the cylinder @ $230 ($320?) per cylinder including piston, wrist pin, rings & I think, a sleeve. No overbore, no con-rod or anything lower. That was 6 years ago & if they still sell them, I'd really hate to see the prices.

The Tisco overhaul kit in my H has a little over 400 hrs on it & is doing fine. I don't like any of their other parts. The distributer overhaul kit out-right sucks. Nothing fits quite right & I believe a f@rt lingers longer than their coils.

You will like the kit from Abeline they have good prices on complete kits.374 for a C sleeves, pistons, rings, rod and ,ain bearings and gaskets. Just type in Abeline tractor parts for your nearest dea;er.

You would like the replacement nut they sell for the front spindles. My SMTA had crappy threads and wouldn't get the front hubs tight so I bought one of theirs and it is good to go now. Not the best deal in the world I have half as much in the nuts as I would a junk yard front pedistal. They are pretty cool though. They are a little undersized and have a jamb nut type locking system to really hold tight.

we rebuild alot of motors during the winter months. our experiance has been that we deal with 3 suppliers for engine kits. #1 is toms agri diesl, excellent staff and have more engine parts than the rest. the other two places are hy-capacity and howards. howards tends to be cheaper in price. since you are doing a farmall you most likley will end up with a red power brand kit which is owned by howards. i know that tractor kits mentioned above in another post deals with howards. all these companies buy from each other when they are out of something or dont carry a particular part. i would stay away from herschel-disastor and tisc junk.

I was told by one of the suppliers that as far as the sleeve and piston sets are concerned there is only one domestic manufacturer. I thought the name was Richland Industries but I"m not 100% sure.

well there is more than one, fp diesel, perfect circle, red power, i know that reliance makes a ton of john deere kits, also powermax, just to name a few.................
