Without the gasket float should be parallel with the body and measure 1 5/32 +- 1/64 this is factory setting from ZENITH

Gene, you posted this reply about a"C" carb --

exactly "how" does one measure the 1 5/32 +- ?? Carb right side up (or upside down)?
No gasket -I get that.
But what is "Point A" and "Point B" , between which should measure 1 5/32 +- ?

A picture or drawing would help all of us greatly.

I dont know how to post pics on here. Carb body top is of course upside down. Floatbody is paralell with body and measure from body of the carb to the top of the float which of course is upside down now as you sure dont want that distance for the gap. You do need to know where and how to bend so the float has correct position.

Gene, if you don't mind, please check this post again in a day or so so I can look at my tractor and give you the Zenith number. I would like to make sure of the measurement.

So the place to measure is the "apex" of the circular part of the float, on the side closest to the carb body. Carb body is now off tractor on the workbench, and upside down. Measusre with no gasket

couv, the float height spec is the same on all of the small Zenith carburetors. Makes no difference what model number it is, or what brand of tractor it is on.

I don't think the float setting is all that critical. I just eyeball it to see if it is parallel. Otherwise I use a tape measure that only reads to the 16th of an inch and leave the calipers in the case. I'm more concerned with the little tab that limits how far it drops. I don't want the float dropping till it hits the bottom of the bowl or else it might get stuck. Hopefully the bowl will always stay full except when you go petal to metal. But then final flow is restricted by the idle jet and the main jet setting.
