farmall c carb

i have a c with a zenith carb,, it was leaking out of carb so i cleaned and put a new needle and seat in it in spring.. it ran well then,, i started it last week and it was leaking so i adjusted the float down a little and now i can"t get gas to carb if i adjust the float higher it gets too much gas.. there is no fuel adjustment so the float must be it what is the adjustment on float?? level? i"ve tried that i"m doing something wrong i know any help appreciated

Did you set the float like the instructions in the kit said and bend the float in the rite place. That is important so the needle can do its job. Some cheap kits dont have the measurements of the float.

the kit i got from here didn't have any instructions,, do u know the setting.. i've tried changing it 6 times it's either too much or no gas to bowl.. thanks jim

Without the gasket float should be parallel with the body and measure 1 5/32 +- 1/64 this is factory setting from ZENITH

hi gene i set this adjustment with drill bits for the gauge on the brass part that is soldered to float next to needle.., after about 6 times,, i got it to where it will run with choke out but it still leaks from carb any adjustment more and it leaks and floods out and any less and no fuel it was a new needle and seat, everything is clean, the floats are not filled with gas, the needle and seat works up and down when it's apart, what am i doing wrong , i could take this off in my sleep thanks jim

I've never seen a kit that didn't come with at least a basic set of instructions. Usually the instruction sheet is folded up and tucked away inside of the package labeling.

Do the measuring with a ruler that is marked off in 1/64" graduations, and measure from the carb body to the highest point on the float. Also, you might want to take the needle out of the seat and clean it as there may be a tiny speck of rust that is preventing the flow of fuel from being completely stopped. Also, make sure the float is not rubbing on the sides of the fuel bowl, and when measuring and adjusting float height, make sure that BOTH of the floats are at the same exact height.
