Just wondering how fellow tractor people would compare these 3 tractors for power, pulling and bacicaly comparing the 3, I am a diehard IH man but have had a lot of arguments about these tractors for years.

I have never driven an Allis that I liked the way it operated. They just seem akward to get on and off of and run.

I really like our 560. Has plenty of power, but will suck A LOT of fuel if you are working it. Hydraulics are ok, but could run at a higher pressure. I'm not a huge fan of the fast hitch. I would prefer a 3 point arms and a stationary drawbar, like the 66 series. Other than that it has been a great tractor.

Mostly depends on the color of your blood. Me, I'll of course take the 560 because that is what I am most famliar with.

Don't forget how hard starting the diesels are! From what neighbors and relatives have said you would probably have to plug it in to get it started this morning (it was 55)

Back in the early 80s,my brother had a 560d and I had a 730d.theyeach pulled a 3 bottom plow at the same speed.the 730 had better hydralics and got better fuel economy(and that damn hand clutch)

i dont agree with the hard starting one bit. 55 degrees is nothing. i can go out and start anyone of my 282 diesels in temps of 32 degrees with no plug ins. and as far as fuel the 560 is very efficient .

With a choice of those 3, I'd take the 730. Only dis-advantage I see to it is lack of a power-shift of any kind, but it will "lug through" where you would need to downshift the others. Also much more economical to run. the D-19 probably has a little more HP than the other two.

For getting on and off smooth and quiet ease of handling the 560 is way far out front. Ever back wagons with a hand clutch and how bout a loader.

I have had 560 D's for loader tractors. I always got them started to -30. I had cows to feed. Guess i am used to the older IHC's. and can drive them in my sleep. The 560 would be my choice.

560Ds had the indiviual glow plugs that many times weren't checked or serviced. A later- mid 1970s??- glow plug and wiring was a good improvement, derived from later British series to start but the original glow plugs given a minute to warm up before starter used di fair- if didn't start in few turns, repeat warmup plug drill- push the little button and hold 2 minutes. A dribble of gas in air cleaner instead of ether might help also. RN

I would make the 730 & D19 parade queens, use the IH for work, put a front end loader on the any 2 popper & youll wish you had born a octopus.

When he asked about "pulling", I didn't think he was wanting one for a loader tractor... for a loader the 730 would suck, but for field work, I'd take the JD any day over the other two. Better hydraulics on the JD also, plus available 3 point.

If offered the choice of the three, I would also take the 730...

...so I could sell it and buy a 460 and a 560.

Thanks for all the replys I thought this would make for good conversation, somebody else come up now with some comparisons, thanks Kevin.
