my shifting rails on my farmall 300 are worn, are these rails made of cast or something else, i was thinking of trying to weld them up to close the gap as the sides are rounded off and makes shifting tricky. i also need to weld the tip of the shifter which i already have done on another tractor, just not sure about the rails. thanks in advance

The rails are machined cold rolled steel.

The yokes are probably forged. At any rate they are steel because they are welded to the rails.

The rail guides are formed steel.

I would not suggest that you reshape the rail pockets while the rails are still in the the tractor.

If the yokes are worn, get another set. There is too much machine work to get them right.

Check part numbers on H, 330, 340, 350, 460, 504, 606 to see what will interchange, Goto caseih.com

By building up the bottom of the shift lever you should be able to compensate for some of the wear in the rails.
