Looking for tips on tie-rod adjustment, Farmall A

I had to replace the front axle on my A. My plan was to measure the distance between the inside of the front, and then the rear of the rims to get the tie rods adjusted correctly.

Anyone have any different tricks or tips? I have found no references to setting the wheel alignment. I know what I am planning will work, just didn't know if anyone had other suggestions.

I am going on a 15 mile tractor ride next weekend, so would like to have the alignment correct, so the old girl doesn't "wander".

I think you want to have the distance at the front of the tires slightly less than the distance at the rear. Maybe 1/4" or less.

you have the right idea.up to 1/4" toe-in should be fine, with some wear in the tie rods.
