Super C block crack??

I'm looking at a Super C that has a crack in the block behind the Carb.

Is this a weakness on the model? It has an old JB Weld repair that the seller claims is holding fine.. But I'm naturally sceptical.

I wouldn't even be looking, but it has a wide front, which is what I need for the raised beds I plant on.

Is $1800 a reasonable price? It does have nice tin, decent tires, a fasthitch...

Those blocks would crack if it froze up from cold. Many have been fixed with several types of stuff and can last forever. My self i have had great luck with rubber cement that holds your windshield in. Depends on how bad the crack is if the block is cracked between the cycls its junk. But if this one has been running i sure wouldnt worry ablut the patch as the rest of the block must be ok.
