I posted a while back about having one stepped head piston and three flat top pistons in my A. Well I searched the part number on it and it is a firecrater from a c-123. I measure the i.d. of the sleeve and it is 3.10". The other flat top sleeves are 3.00". I planned on replacing it and the sleeve with used ones from Old. Well, Old measured the i.d. of the sleeve he pulled a flat top from and it is 3.10". Is it possible that someone put a larger i.d. sleeve in the no. 3 cylinder when they replaced the piston.

They probably did. A larger I.D., but a thinner walled sleeve so that the O.D. of the sleeve will fit into the block.

An A or B engine is 113 cubic inches standard.
That is a 3" diameter piston.
A Super C engine is 123 cubic inches standard. That is a 3-1/8" diameter piston.

Most rebuilds of A's & B's put in thinner sleeves to accomodate the upgrade from 3" to 3-1/8" pistons.

It's done all the time at rebuild time. More or less a standard practice.

What is a BK pigs? Just curious bc I raise Berkshires here in SE WI.

My .02 - I would get a whole set of 3.125" pistons and sleeves from Old and rebuild it bigger. You aren't going to ruin the motor doing it and there won't be accelerated wear. IH did it straight from the factory with the Super C.
