806 range tranny cover removal

I need to pull the range cover to sort out some reverse gear shifting issues and have seen it mentioned b/f that it's good to have an extra set of hands for that job to keep parts from falling down inside. Unfortunately that extra set of hands is going to be hard to find for awhile and I need to get this job done ASAP. Is it doable and how risky is it in terms of dropped pieces that can't be retrieved? Any input appreciated, thanks.

It is do able by 1 person. (BTDT) Be sure to clean the outside of the housing first before starting and have the lever in N.

IF the parts drop, a magnet may rescue them or they will get pinched in the gears or possibly sucked into the hyd filter.

Thanks for the input. I pulled it after reading your post last night and luckily the woodruff key fell outside the left side access hole instead of back into the transmission/sump.
