whats the widest tire that will fit on a stock 41 m rim im wanting to put 15.5"s but dont think there going to fit right
 
13.6 is new stock size designation. 14.9 is one over. 15+ is both too tall and too wide for most applications. It will change gear ratios and be outsized in appearance, it will also require a wider rim to allow it to have the correct foot print. Jim
 
Actually, the 15.5 is the same diameter as a 13.6, but wider. They won't fit on the stock rim properly, though.

Correct, only the 14.9 has a larger circ/diameter.

The widest tire you can fit is only a factor of how wide the rim is. Most Ms I have seen have 10 or 11 inch rims. As a rule you can go 2 inches (don't count the decimals) larger than your rim width. ie 10" rim = 12.4" tire 11" rim = 13.6" tire
I bought a set of 14.9s on 11" rims and they didn't really look that bulged out, but you would loose contact patch. I think 15.5s look just fine on an M, but I tractor pull and like big tires. Anything bigger than 15.5s starts looking REALLY not stock.
 
Hate to correct you, but my 13.6's are ALMOST the exact same height as my new 15.5's. The 16.9's I replaced were significantly taller, and looked goofy on my MTA.

I think we are saying the same thing in a different way. 13.6 and 15.5 are the same overall height with different widths. 14.9s are slightly taller and wider than 13.6 and narrower than 15.5
A chart was presented once on yt showing this data. I can go look for it when I get a chance.
