WD9 pto in 600

I gotta figure it'll work just fine.

IH didn't even see fit to change the hood from the WD9 to the 600 and 650.
 
They did remove the gauge mounting bluge on the 600/650 hood, but other than that all of the sheet metal and most other parts are the same. The pto is the same.

I'd like to see a picture of that. I have never seen a LPTO on a 600-650.

Now maybe someone put a clutch pack on the rear of the tractor but that doesn't make it a live PTO. LPTO starts at the main clutch spring cover/retainer and requires a shaft within a hollow shaft output from the clutch area.
 
Thanks for the info, I'll be pulling the pto out of the 9 in the dead row. It will be really nice to excersise the 600 on a pto load. By the way, I don't think there was ever any of these standard 9's, 600's and 650's with a live PTO.

i don't think there's any way a 9 series tractor can have a live pto. i've been wrong before(and i'll be wrong again) but i'm quite sure on this.
if it does i'd love to see a picture and explanation of how it was done....
 
From what I have seen, the WD9, 600 and 650 are mechanically identical.

No TA. No live PTO.

IH seems to have put no development money into the large wheatland tractors for some reason.
 
Are you sure you don't mean a 660. I think the 660 was the 1st big IH standard to offer both IPTO and standard PTO. I think even a fast hitch was available on the 660. Seen one but not sure if it came from the factory. Al
 
Fast Hitch was not an option on 660. I have made the modification to my 660 and have seen others. Floor board has to go. It's the same story on my 650. I did, however, manage to build a Fast Hitch for a W-400 and retain all the sheet metal.

Yep, the 660 could be had with either LPTO (planetary or clutch type) or transmission driven PTO. Don't think they sold many of the latter.
