Rear sickle for Super A ???

I'm going to look at and probably buy a rear sickle bar mower in a couple days. What model # was the standard for a '48 Super A, and are there any areas prone to cracking or breaking I should look for?
It is PTO driven then a belt from the PTO box to the pitman arm assembly, is this the balanced head mower I"ve read about a time or two?

Balanced head mowers do not use the traditional wood pitmans. I find reference to an A-21 and an A-24 mower for the Super A. The 21 being rated as a general purpose mower and the other as heavy duty. They are not difficult machines to assess for damage as there is just not that much to them but what I look for primarily is that all the parts are there. Stands, mounting frames, etc tend to get lost, modified, broken, you name it. A mounted mower without it's stand can be a headache to attach. Other than that there are certain lubrication points that bear looking at. On every mower I have the connection points for the pitman to the drive pulley are on a 1-2 hour grease schedule. Check it for wear or signs it heated. The other end of the pitman where the bar attaches would be a good place to look to see if there are issues with wear. Check the cutter bar for signs of abuse. That is all that comes to mind right off. Check the belts, some are pricey. Good luck!

Possibly a 27 V . They fit more than model A but were common in some parts. They had a wood pitman.
