There was a very interesting article in today's (Sunday) paper about roll-over protection for older tractors. Here is the link:

I have both an H and an M, that I use for farming. Is ROPS available for my tractors?

The oldest tractor I have seen with a roll bar and seat belt was a IH 444. I doubt if a model specific rollbar and be purchased for an H or M. But, I would think that a roll bar could be purchased that would bolt to the same holes that the fenders mount on. The seat belt would be the problem on that type seat. The roll bar and seat belt must be used together. I imagine that the seat belts on modern and converted tractors are seldom used. The best way to avoid rollovers is not to put yourself in a situation where they can occur. Unlike cars and trucks, where the other driver can cause the accident, the accident is 100% the tractor drivers fault. Since it is an "accident", it of course is unexpected -- but most accidents can be prevented. I am not opposed to safety equipment -- The seat belts in my vehicles are in use everytime I drive.

Of course they're available, if you are or know of a good fabricator...pretty much anything can be built and built to work good.

Sorry, this doesn't probably answer your question of whether or not you can just order one from someplace. I've never seen one advertised...doesn't mean they're not out there though.

Hey Zooey. If you follow the link you supplied and click on the other links it will take you to a page to find a roll bar for your tractor. I did and found one for my Farmall 140.
