They have T-bolts with nuts and washer that hook into the fuel tank and grill. You should have slots inside the hood for the T-bolts. Don't believe everything you read.
 
Yes, you are quite right about the bolts. I guess I have been walking by several M hoods too often in my barn recently.

I have 3 nine series tractors. It's a wonder I didn't check my parts book before responding. I normally do on this type of question.
 
My parts book shows Serial# 501 to 1439 used hook and spring like H & M above that they used T bolts a small bracket and washer and nut, yhere is a slot for the T bolt to slide into .

I actually should have asked what is correct. I have 2 T-bolts that came with the tractor but i thought they were something that someone had made up. i use them. i have found mixed thoughts on what is factory & what is not. i'll have to make up a couple of more with threaded rod.
