My SW6 will not charge. So far this is what I have done. New wires from Brillman. Hooked up from their instructions. Double checked with drawing from IH manual. Two different, new VR's. VR has good ground. Had the generator checked this morning and it is good. Good ground on it too. Ammeter shows discharge when the lights are on. What am I missing?? :?

Thanks for the questions and Yes to both questions. As mentioned before the ammeter shows discharge when the lights are turned on. I have 6.7 volts at the battery. At the repair shop this morning the generator had 20 amps output at 7.8 volts.

That doesn't mean a MM will show the same thing. The ammeter gauges on these tractors can be somewhat unreliable. I assume that you double checked with a MM since you gave numbers with a decimal.

It wont be until tomorrow evening that I can get back at. Thanks guys for the input. I will share what I find and I [b:e06b65a04f][u:e06b65a04f]will[/u:e06b65a04f] [/b:e06b65a04f]find it. I have a-lot more complicated systems at work.

I have found the charging problem. So simple that I had overlooked for several days. The connections on the back of the ammeter were loose. Apparently when I put the new wires on I did not tighten the nuts. Every thing is fine now. Thanks for everyone's thoughts.
