1466 with 5000 hours

Hi forum,
I have a 1975 1466 with a Leon FEL... tractor is a gem and I have put a lot of repairs into it. Steering, tires....etc.
The engine has about 5000 hours... I had a guy tell me that I better do some piston and sleeve work about now....
Anybody concur with that?
Thanks all.

If you are religious about the coolant conditioner and have avoided the dreaded cavitation in the cylinders, it should go another 5000hrs. Do the maintenance and they live. If it is getting hard to start, using oil, or wimpy, it might be time, but usually not at that hour point if maintained. Jim

I will need to find out more about maintaining the coolant.
Engine starts immediately and seems to have lots of power.
Though I use it only on the grain auger and for very light duty pulling... I"m sure I"ve never come close to using even half of power it could produce.
Thanks!

What Jim said,

If you've only used it for light duty work, the thing will go another 5K hours.

If worked to death, the bottom end with show the wear first and should be tightened up at 5000 hours...............

IF IT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED IN THE COOLANT DEPT, not to worry. Use it. :>)
