Newbie to tractors, just bought a 1966 IH 504.

Where do I check the hydraulic oil level and where do I add it ?

Thanks so much

There's a lot more to check than just the hydraulic oil.

On a 504, the hydraulic oil is stored in the transmission and rear end, so not only is it hydraulic, it also lubricates the gears.

Fill is through a plate or plug on the platform (can't remember which offhand). Check is through a plug on the left side near the clutch pedal linkage.

There is also a filter under a 6-sided cover on the right side.

Please make every effort to get an owner's manual for your new tractor ASAP.

The filler plug is located next to the gear shifter. It is an inch and a half pipe plug with a 3/4" square recess for a 3/4" ratchet or breaker bar.
