yes there is a puller for them blasted things, the ihc dealers would have had them.might have fun locating one now.

It is nearly impossible to find the puller that IHC provided the dealers. None of them around here have them. I called...
I built my own. I took a piece of heavy flat stock and drilled two holes 1 15/16" apart. Then I threaded short fine thread bolts into them for pulling the one half and I through bolted them to pull the inner part. (You can see both setups in the pics) Then on my final puller I welded a nut on to adapt to a LARGE slide hammer. This then banged them right out. (Thought, I did this on WD-6/MD injectors. Your's may not be exactly the same)

FYI - The pictured puller ended up being too small for the inner halves, but I don't have a picture of the bigger better puller.

You'll have to post pictures of the slide hammer you made. If it isn't 20% different than mine I will have to slap you with royalty fees
I think you are on the right track. Another trick I found was to throw the slide up rather than hold onto it when I slid it. I found out that my hands were absorbing a lot of the blow. When I just threw it up the injector got the full wrath of the slide hammer. It probably isn't A-Ok in the handbook, but it worked!

Will the tractor run or at least turn over with the starter? If so take the bolts out tie a grease rag on the injector (must be out side ) start it and the injector will come out. Have done this on a 400 D. The rag is so you can find it because it will be about 40 feet away.

got it out drove it back in a couple of times and then pulled it out witha slide hammer, amazingly I can still get the seals for the injectors thru CIH and jollifs are going to rebiuld them
