I went to get a 1952 intl. td9 dozer today. the owner said it ran good when he parked it there a couple years ago. when we cranked it over, there was no power coming from the magneto wire to distributor. The owner said this was a common magneto problem that would happen when the dozer sat unused. He said his father would take off the magneto, heat it up drying out the condensation, put it back on, and it would run. my questions are- shuold i try this? can i test the magneto and coil without removeing the magneto? are the magneto and distrbutor easy to align and time when re-asembled?

I havew done that with the mag on my 10-20 mccormick and it worked. Put it in at 150 degrees for an hour and that should do it. I don't know how hard it will be to keep everything lined up I just know how important it is, as I'm sure you do too!
