Super A grill efforts

For the past two years I have exhausted all efforts in search of a decent super a grill. Ebay has done me no good and I can't find a decent one in a scrapyard. I'm always a day late or a dollar short though I don't mind paying for a relatively decent one. Mine came with a C grill on it and it doesnt fit quite right and I don't want to cut it up to customize it. Any advice appreciated.

You can buy new ones for $600+. Bates Corp has used ones for $450, the bars will be straightened. You will need to make the other repairs.

CNKS, have you ever used one of those special tools they sell for grill straightening? I have a SAV that I bought (like the Loboy) to be redone and taken to shows. Just a LITTLE bit of damage on the lower grill which I am hoping to sort out. Wondered how good those straightener tools were.

"...though I don't mind paying for a relatively decent one...." If I recall, you are in the great, but deeply in debt, Badger State; maybe you have tried, if not, check w/ASAP Ag Parts in Black Creek; Jaeckls or Jackle Bros, my notes show both, they are east of Ft. Atkinson...mmmmm, Bib Bars or maybe 'Peanuts' 715-964-1702 could put you onto something-I don't know. Good luck w/your project.

Far as I know they work, that's what Bates used on the grill I bought -- I bondoed some of the places they missed. Overall, it was ok.

I got a pair of straightner tools for my 100 and 200; they seem to work OK. I worked on one grill without taking the screen off and while the grill straightened, I cut the screen. The second time was different...I also started using a dead blow hammer, more control and worked better than different sizes of ball piens.

I saw them in use at the RPRU in Madison last year and they seemed to do the trick nicely.

BTW - It is Jaeckel Don't know the number off hand bc it is stored in my phone. There is a decent junkyard in Strawberry Point, IA. Jerry Everitt is the owners name. Search it up.

I bought the tool set for the grill on my M and I think it worked great! I had to do some brazing on the ripped bars but they all came ot looking good. I wish I had done some before and after pictures!..... :x

Okay, let me get this straight, pun intended.

Do you already have a grille, that just needs some straightening?

When you buy a used grille, you're going to have to do some straightening no matter what.

Unless your grill is badly mangled, you'll be time and money ahead just straightening it, and replacing the screen if necessary.

I just saw an A grill go up on ebay yesterday. Looks like it would be something someone could use. Keep an eye on it.
