Wardner,

As I commented on the classic truck board, in your quest for big IHC based wheel tractors, you ought to look for a MRS-14 or a MRS-18 to add to your collection. They would be a very rare find, if any of them still exist. The 14 used the UD-14 engine and the 18 used the UD-18 engine. MRS started building four wheel drive tractors in the late 50's and stopped producing the two wheel drive IHC powered tractors at that time. At one time, during the 60's, MRS produced a tractor/scraper for the strip mining industry that was, at that time, the largest production tractor built in the world.

Harold,

I have seen pictures of the MRS-14. Can't remember where but I only recall you writing about them here many years ago. I assume you posted the pictures.

I am done accumulating tractors. I should be selling off the things I will never get around to working on. And there is plenty of that stuff. On top of that I need to build a barn addition. That is probably easier for me than selling tractors.

Thanks for thinking about me. Yes, I do like the big equipment. One of these days, I will be able to haul it around. I have a chain-drive C-cab Mack (FT Model) and a 10' wide solid rubber Rodgers trailer. Both need plenty of work.

For the information of others, the MRS-14 was the equivilent of the Cat DW-10 and the MRS-18 was the equivilent of the Cat DW-15. After these models, MRS changed its design and went to four wheel drive tractors and used a unique weight transfer system from the scraper to the tractor. At one time during the 60's MRS built the largest production tractor/scraper in the world for use in strip mines. After the DW-15 Cat also changed their design and went to two wheel tractors which put all of the tractor weight on the drive wheels. The DW-21 was the first Cat two wheel tractor model.
