Fuel flow problem.

Fixing a 300 for a guy. Had a bug stuck in the fuel spigot top. Have great fuel flow with the bowl off now. When I tighten the glass bowl on, no flow. My tractors all have good flow with the bowl tightened. Is their a little hole somewhere in the unit? What am I missing? Thanks, Steve

If the carburetor is full of fuel, the needle valve is closed, and there is nowhere for the gasoline to go. that is why you don't get any fuel flow when you tighten up the glass sediment bowl.

Well, it wont even fill the glass bowl if it is empty, but tightened.Nothing runs down into the bowl. Has great flow with the bowl off. Once you tighten the bowl, flow stops. Thanks

I just thought that the outlet port may be clogged somehow. It might be causing a vaccum? Will look at that when I get home. Should I try to blow it out with an air hose? Wont hurt anything?? Thanks

LOL yep it is working just as it should if the float needle is sit closed. That sediment bowl is full of air and well lets just say air and gas can not fill the same spot at the same time so yep it will not fill till you start the engine and when the float drops to open the needle the sediment bowl will then fill with gas. If it did not do as it is then you would have a leak in the fuel system which would not be good

Exactly!!!

Ya funny how if something like the sediment bowl is full of air that it can not let the fuel in but lots of people do not understand air is as much a fluid of sorts as fuel is

I don't know about 300s but on mine it did the same thing and all i had to do is turn on the bleed valve on the carb and let the air out of the bowl and line. it shot right out when i turned the bleed valve

Stefano, my caseih sediment bowl does the same thing. When I clean and dump it, I have to leave it loose to get it to fill. I am one of those who turns the fuel valve off and lets the tractor die by running out of fuel. The carb is always empty so it won't start if I don't loosen the sediment bowl to get rid of the air lock.

I've been having rust issues again. My rolled up window screen going into the gas tank plugs up with rust. I took it out and stuck a piece of rubber gas hose so it sticks up a little more than an inch as Allan in NE has always recommended.
