Super A - Final Stretch

Well, I"ve labored this day (not too hard) got The Super A running finiching the long drawn out task (From a few months ago - replaced manifold, Valve Cover Gasket, Fan Belt and Hydraulic Pump seals & repaired the Frozen Touch Controls) and now I got to change the Engine oil, so what type of oil should I use to fill her back up?

Note - this is a hand start and I am in Mid-Michigan.

Thanks,
Kyle

SAE 30 detergent oil (5-6 quarts) and change again after running it for a while. If winter use is planned use 10-30. I would change the filter again also. Be sure to dig ALL the old filter gasket out of the groove each time you change the filter.

I would caution against changing the oil filter gasket until you have one in hand. It seems that some mfgs no longer include them with the filter.

I don't think I will be changing any more oil filter gaskets. Probably just use a thin smear of RTV on the edge of the steel dome.

Any pi; will be OK run for a few hrs then change along with new filter. I would even drop the pan and clean oil sump and pan. Why hand start.

My Dad has always hand started it, we tried to do the starter only with 12V but it didn"t seem to turn fast enough. The wiring is worn such that it would probably need total replacement, maybe after I get his Ford 9N going, I may tackle that. But time has been little lately.

thanks,
kyle
