Amp meter wiring for the farmall cub I have is positive side of amp meter to battery terminal on cut out regulator and negative side of amp meter to terminal on starter. Is it correct to connect the light switch by wire to the negative side of the amp meter
The cub has a magneto for ignition so there is only one wire to the magneto from the switch.

Hot voltage feeds to loads like lights should be on the same side of the ammeter (I call the load side) as the wire that goes down to the cutout relay. Theres usually only one wire on the ammeters other (I call supply side) terminal which leads to the hot ungrounded battery post often via a wire to the starter post where the big battery cable attaches.

Battery on one side,,,,,,Cutout (to genny) and loads (Lights and Ignition etc) all on the other ammeter side.

That way the ammeter accurately registers current into (charging) or out of (discharging) the battery
