Yes there is a seal on each side of the trans that the axles slip threw.

If you pull one of the axel drops off be sure and put a wooden wedge under the radiator on top of the axel so the tractor won't tip . It's not a hard job, just watch the brake toggle when you take it out... It can be installed wrong then the brake won't work correct.

This is really a easy job..

If the oil is coming out above the tire, it sounds as though it’s leaking from the differential shaft cover plate on the final drive.
If that’s the case, the oil is coming from the final drive, not the transmission. The cover has 4 cap screws and one gasket; simple fix.
