W30 Zenith carburetor problems

I have a W30, 1934 and am in the process of restoring it. It presently has a carborator from an M that my Dad installed because he said that the Zenith carb was always problematic. The question: I"d like to restore this to the original specs but if the Zenith carb was a problem then I"ll keep what I have on there. Does anyone have knowledge of these carburetors - were they a problem? Thanks!

I am not overly knowledgeable on the pre 1939 tractors, but I imagine that your W30 would have used the same Zenith carburetor as an F30, maybe even an F20, and I've never heard of any of those carburetors being problematic.

no problems with the carb, maybe not knowing how to fix is the problem. easy starting tractors and run good.

I've always kind of thought that maybe the "M" carburetor is just the modern, simplified version of the Zenith K5?

Zenith Carbs are not problematic. Haven't found one yet that a good soak and a basic kit doesn't put back into action. You will have to find a W30 carb with the four bolt flange on the inlet side, F20/F30 use the K5 with different internal jets and venturies, The K5 for the W30 has the same internals as a F30.
