can a 560 be hooked to a disc with a one way cylinder and work properly can anyone answer this and tell me why

yes it will. under where the glow plug meter is there is a switch for 1 way or 2 way cylinders, it has a small hair pin through it

my friend has a 560 gasser that will barely lift the 10-12 foot disc with a one way cylinder is it because the tractor is not set up for that cylinder does it need a two way cylinder i think i could hook it up to my M and run it just fine with the lift-all pump is this correct

What is the diameter of the cylinder? Try a larger diameter cylinder either one or two way will work much better if you don't have any other issues. You will have to change from one way to two way from the correct valve under the dash.

if he has it on two way trying to lift a one way how will it act and what do i need to do to switch it if that needs done

Without knowing how the valve spool is configured, it's hard for me to know, but in most cases it should work. System pressure X area of the cylinder bore will determine how much it will lift. You're probably not going to lift much of a disc with a 2 1/2 or 3" cylinder, regardless if it's single or double action. You could use a double action cylinder with the valve configured for single, if the rod end of the cylinder is vented. In this case, it should be a filtered vent to keep dirt out or the cylinder will not last long.

A one way cyl will lift the same if valve is set for two way or one way, difference is that when you lower the cyl you will be deadheading the system unnecessarily(operating on relief valve pressure in stead of recirculating pressue). If the 560 cannot lift that disk you have either a weak system or too small of a cyl for the job.

arent all three of the stock valves on a 560 switchable between single and double action on the front of the valves? mine is

YES

All you need to do is take an adjustable (Crescent) wrench and turn the appropriate spool 90 degrees.

The spools protrude through the tin on the steering pedestal down by the base of the shifter. Easy to reach.
