I have a 1949 Farmall H and I want get her producing a few more horse power. So I was planning on boring the engine to fit a 3 7/8 piston out of a Massey 44. Will this be too much and weaken the strength of the block? Any input that could help me out i'd be extremely thankful.
thank you

yes i believe the massey 44 bore is 4" for the block, the piston bore within the sleeve of the 44 is 3 7/8 based on some research.... i'd like to bore my H to fit the piston only. Essentially the engine would be sleeveless

Wrist pin OD will be the next problem. Pretty heavy piston, weightwise too.

H block can go 3.812, but it better look like brand new, and you still will need one repair sleeve in number 3.

Advertized in RED POWER magazine, A fella by the name of Volbrach has kits that I think are the best for farming applications. 3-11/16 bore, high dome, dont know if they are sleeved or not. It takes time to get those parts if he is out of stock, worth the wait.
