Bought the subject Super H recently. Beginning to go through it and repair/replace as necessary. I cannot get a history on the last engine rebuild from previous owner. Checked the compression on each of the cylinders and the reading are all between 132 to 140. (read dry, that is, no oil added to cylinders) I cannot find anything in the YT archives giving a minimum reading which would trigger digging into the engine for a possible re-build. Those of you who do a lot of engine work, is this good to go?
Reading this forum practically everyday, I have learned many important things concerning restoration and repair, and for that, thanks to each of you.

I think it all comes down to want you want and how much you want to spend. With those numbers, if the main and rod bearings looks good and the valves look good and are adjusted currectly I would not worry about rebuilding it. If you have a snake scope stick it in the plug holes and look at the cylinder walls, piston heads, and valves. If everything looks good I would leave it alone.Just my opinion though...

I think new/rebuilt they have around 165 but can not guarantee that.

Thank you, Matt, for your response. Since I will not use this tractor for any serious work, I think I will let it be. Paul
