On my 140 FARMALL : Forgive my ignorance but what is the purpose of the resevoir in front of my distributor and above my hydraulic pump? This is my first of two red tractors and I absolutely believe they are the best cultivating/ sidedressing machines ever built. Have a 100 that only has a vent plug at this location would like to know type and amount of lube? that this resevoir should hold..

Thanks

This is built into the housing of the distributor drive and hydraulic pump drive. Cant find any info in the IT manual (shock)..Is it possibly lube for the gear train from the cam to the hydraulic pump?

I believe that is the engine oil fill location. On the 100 the oil goes in the breather sticking up through the hood. Later 140's fill above the governor if I remember right, they don't have the breather.

That sounds like the governor housing. Does it have the lever from the throttle control on the right side of the tractor? The cap is the location to fill the engine with 5 quarts of oil, an extra 1/2 quart for filter changes. Get an owner/operator manual.
