Hello all, new here and this forum is awesome, so much info. Anyway"s I"m helping a friend of mine with his tractor and I"m running into a charging problem where it will only charge to about 12.2-12.3V (battery was at 11.7) so it is charging, just not enough. My question is where is the regulator for this thing?, it"s a 1959 B275 Diesel, original positive ground, all original, and rusty :)
Can any one help with location and testing? It does cut out when near idle, and cut in above idle, just not enough. All I have done so far is clean both terminals on the back of the generator, that did help a tiny bit, but not enough.
Please help
thanks
Bob

Hi, I believe on B275 the VR is under the battery box on the clutch side.
The problem you describe is very common on these British Diesel. I believe the problem is caused by the contacts on the VR.

Yes, that's why I'm looking for it, I seem to have around 14.5V at the back of the gen, so I hope your right!
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.
Cheers
