I am lookin to buy a 806 Diesel but it is stuck in REVERSE wut could be the problem or would i be better off finding another one?

I would not waste my time, the gears could be stuck, it could be a bunch of things, i guess if the price was very good then maybe, but dont forget even though the price is good it will take allot of work taking that apart and u might end up putting a few bucks in fixing it.

Well, I just got done rebuilding the linkage on my 806D and It wasn"t that big of a deal. I may have spent $200 on the parts for the range transmission, which fixed my problem. Mine wouldn"t go into reverse, Just kept getting worse over time. I bought my parts aftermarket, and I bought bushings at the hardware store and then bored the top cover to press in the bushings for the pivot arms to make everything work. I"d ask the fella if this just happened, or if it has been shifting bad for a long time. That being said, If you"re looking to buy a tractor that 806 won"t shift real great even after fixing it, (just decent), if you"re going to do lots of chore work (Constant shifting) I"d look into an 856 or newer. 56 and 66 tractors just shift better. (At least the ones I"ve been around, not all may be that way). If you can get the 806 for the right money, go for it.

Stuck in reverse HOW, is what's important...

If it's in reverse and the range lever just flops, then it's just a sheared roll pin on top of the range cover. The hardest part of the fix is getting the platform out of the way.
