Air cleaner breather pipe on an H.

Does anyone happen to have a photo (or good advice) of the air cleaner from an H? There is a brass nut soldered into the side of the air cleaner to which the air cleaner breather pipe (which connects to the cylinder head) attaches. That brass nut came loose on my machine. I've ground everything clean and need to reattach the nut. Don't know how deeply to seat it to get everything to align properly. Do I sink the nut 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 of the way? Sorry for such a mundane question - just want to be sure to do this right.

CNKS, I have seen some of these where the spot welded plate vibrated off, and the fitting was soldered back onto the pipe. that is probably what has happened here.

I would not put the fitting in further than 1/4 or 3/8". You want it to go all the way through so your solder bonds on both sides.

IMHO.

Could be. The only reason I answered is that I forgot to shut the fuel off of my SM recently, and the fuel backed up into the air cleaner, at least the cup. I removed the whole air cleaner to be safe and more or less cleaned it and found it was attached to the tube, the nut didn't project inside, slight intrusion won't hurt anything, though.
