Original hose? (pic)

Have had the hood off the "new" tractor for a week now trying to get it running right (whole nother story...)

In looking at everything that is under the hood area, I got to wondering if maybe the top radiator hose might actually be original.

The rubber part is hard as a rock, but since the motor and radiator do not move independent of each other, it does not leak and is still doing its job of keeping coolant flowing between the engine and radiator.

I know the bottom radiator hose is a replacement because it looks fairly new (ie - 20 years or so) and has the modern screw clamps holding it on...

I am thinking I need to pull the radiator so I can back flush it, so the hose's days are numbered. I just wanted to know if this could be the hose IH installed back in 1952 when this SC was built and sold?

Thanks ahead and I have enjoyed looking up lots of helpful information on this forum.

The clamps are definately original. However, if there are not traces of red paint on the hose, I would question whether or not it was the original one.

could be a IH replacement one though.

My opinion.

Pretty doubtful. I worked in the repair shop 40
years ago and in engine work it was pretty common to
replace hoses. But hey. That tractor is 60 or 70
years old so I guess a hose that was replaced 40
years ago might [i:654c4848f0]look[/i:654c4848f0] original.

Theres nothing wrong with that hose it appears like you have a tractor with the 113 engine that was used on the A and B and early C series. Your radiator ias probably not p;lugged but i would bet some good money the block sure is. Remove the radiator then lower outlet then using compressed air and water get the four holes at the bottom of the sleeves flushed and the junk removed you will find tons of stuff in there. I have renewed a bunch of them the last few yrs and it is not uncommon to find thick layer of stuff in the botto,m of the block where coolant is supposed to flow down into the radiator. You will be in for a surprise when you see the stuff flow out. Use reverse flow so it will come out the top after you get it clean from the bottom.

What would indicate that the photo above is of a 113 engine?

After working on and fixing a bunch it sure appears as that is what it is. It also mite be a 123 used in a lot of things sc ECT.
