boy i aint seen anything like that before. i am saving a copy of your pic so i can make me one for my ole H. That little lever is hard to get to after shoulder surgeries . Hey thanks for the picture man!!

Yeah I've got one on my '46 H. Sure is handy, I've never looked at it too close for a manufacturer, guess I just figured it to be IH brand.

I don't know that I've ever seen one exactly like that, but several aftermarket companies did make something similar. I've never felt that I needed one though. Just kinda looks like it might be in the way more than anything else.

I kind of felt the same way so I took it off.

We had an M&W lever on our 48M that was way different. It had a vertical lever with a pivot at the bottom, where it attached to the platform. A rod went rearward from this to lift and lower the normal rig pull rod. Jim

Paint it and put it back on. You will never know it is there until you need to use it! It will be one of those add-ons that made a farmers life a little easier when that tractor was being used every day. Where are you located? Armand

We are in west Michigan, where are you?

I have not decided what to do with this tractor yet.

I have been trying to by my Grandpas M without sucess but the owner said he will consider a trade so this one may be going.

I remember a neighbor who had something like that at least from looking at the handle itself. That would have been back around 1958 or 9, so dont quote me.
Thing ive seen is, I thought my dads pto lever rod on his 48 H went straight up from the pto lever the rod attached to. My 48 came without the attachment that mounted to the floor board for the rod to go threough. I ordered one, and it causes the rod to come up at an angle. Anyone remember the rod comeing straight up or am I getting whacky

There were several types made aftermarket and when you used the PTO often as we did when the tractors were new very handy just like the brake lock and belt pulley levers you sure dont have the only one around maybe in your area but they are out there.

(quoted from post at 23:23:51 08/24/10) Thats an M&W add-on. I have the exact same one on my SM. Worth their weight when you"re on and off the pto alot.

Thanks, Glad to know who made it. I think the throttle is M&W as it is notched rather than saw tooth.

The notched throttle is an IH item. Offered as a replacement for the sawtooth and also I think it was standard equipment on the Super H and Super M. (please correct me if I'm wrong)

The M&W throttle uses a friction disc, and has no notches. It looks entirely different.

I am familiar with the M&W friction but was not aware that IH made a notched model. When I worked for the dealer we only had the saw tooth model.

Thanks for the info
