Have not had a chance to go pick up my MD yet but am curious as to whether or not thay came from the factory as 6V or 12V?

Someone told me recently that the very early MDs were 6 volts and had two 6 volt batteries connected in parallel. Sounded strange to me. I don't know if he had is facts straight or not. All I have seen are 12 volts. The one I drove a s youth (I think it was a 1950) had two 6 volt batteries connected in series, making it a 12 volt system. With modern 12 volt batteries, all you need is one good heavy duty battery. I first had my MD fixed up as original with two 6 volt batteries, but the large 6 volt batteries these days aren't so good and are not easy to find. So I gave that up and went to one 12 volt.

!2 volts, done by using two 6 volt batteries in series. All IH non-diesel tractors were 6 volt, all diesels were 12 volt. Even the early British built B-250 diesels were 12 volt using two 6 volt batteries.

Where did they put two batteries at on the MD? I owned a SMD back in the 1970"s and it only had one 12v bat under the seat. The gas M I owned had one 6v under the gas tank but the SMD had a hyd valve and oil resevor under the tank.

It was right along side the seat. The Precision Classics model shows this very well. I would like to find the mounts to mount mine like that. It doesn't look too hard to build one, but I would like it as close to original as possible.
