Farmall M front end bounceing in high gear.

My M has a single front wheel. In high gear on the road the front end starts to bounce up and down like crazy. Thought it was the front tire. I got a new one, same thing. Wheel seems to be balanced pretty good. Anyone else had that trouble ? What can I try next ? Thanks

Thats kinda crazy. It doesn't run fast enough to have balance issues. Have you put it up on a jack and spun the wheel for out of round? (check rim etc) or something loose? It should be able to easily sustain road speeds with no problem on a decently flat road. And for the mean time you might keep pressure down as well. They don't need max pressure hardly ever unless a loader is involved.

HaHa real funny kids.. Im just saying when Im traveling to my other farm in road gear it shouldnt bounce like a basketball..

Take a good, hard look at the front end. Do you see any kind of springs or other suspension that will soak up the small bumps in the road? Any shock absorber of any kind? No. All that is there is the tire, full of air, just like a basketball. We have all experienced that same thing, and the only answer is to slow down.

Nobody's trying to be funny.

You have to adjust the speed for the road conditions. It's common sense.

My Super M with a wide front would bounce badly in the front at about half throttle then clear out at full throttle. Come to find out the holes were oblonged in the cast center from being run loose and when I changed the tire I didn't get it centered. Mine has a schwartz front end. Bought a used center, no problem sense. No clue why it didn't get worse at full throttle. good luck

The hubs on some single wheel axles have only a bushing in them for a bearing, no balls or rollers.
With it jacked up, test the hub for fit on the axle.
It should also turn free enough that a balance issue would show up when in the air. Check it for runout (wobble) as well when in the air. I have run mine wide open for miles with just the effects of road irregularities to make bouncy bounce. Jim

The others are correct, no one is trying to be funny. Is your wheel cast or pressed steel? The steel one would be pretty light, the cast one is probably heavier than the ones on the NF. Ours had the cast one. If it bounced, I slowed down. But, it did not behave any different than the NF.

pshh.. check for looseness... i plan on putting a wide front on my 350 to deal with this and the front wobble. you could do the same if u wanted.. and around our farm sometimes ya cant slow down.

I took my m wide open in Fifth yesterday with my narrow front and she didn't wobble at all...
