Bought the 450 Gas

It looked pretty good in the pictures, better in person- original paint, wide front, both front tires and one rear new, cherry sheet metal & stainless, all the original guages and dash in nice shape, battery box solid, triple remotes, IPTO, TA, tool box, not a ding in it anywhere. Something I've never heard of, a front bumper (?), sure looks factory, attached to the casting with pins- doesn't look heavy enough to be any kind of weight rack, just a horizontal bar about 3/4" x 3" with two struts? "Driest" old tractor I've ever seen- hardly any leaks at all. About the only thing missing- AAARRRGGHH!! no power steering... I does have a 4-row cultivator underneath it with the cylinders, but the ground attachments have been removed from the tool bar- it was used for many years tending to seed test plots, and later just to run a sprayer- which also came with it. Made me wonder, how is the sprayer attached- walked around the back, YIPPEE!!- nice aftermarket dual-cylinder 3-pt hitch. It had been setting for a year and they had tried to start it a month ago, not getting gas like the needle is stuck, so I pulled one of the batteries out of my dually, then a bit of a detour to zap the 11 (yes, 11) long-legged wasp nests- the battery box was open, and as I dropped the battery in, I noticed the wasp nest the size of a softball about 8 inches from my elbow with about 100 wasps on it- didn't know I could still jump that far... This thing is sitting in a Central Valley peach orchard, and the guys said every time they go get a tractor or implement they're full of nests. So the son gets a couple huge foam wasp & hornet spray cans and wades into it, the big nest, one in a wheel clamp, inside the dash (2), by the fuel tank, radiator cap hole, both ends of the tool bar, wasps flying everywhere and he's still going at it with the bombs- I asked him how often he gets stung, he says 6 or 7 times a week LOL. A quick squirt of ether, and it fired instantly and pegged the oil pressure guage just as fast before it died, no smoke, sounded like a bear, very crisp exhaust note and no funny noises. Might have got hosed on the price, though, cost me $1000- but I'll get over it.. Going to try to pick it up Saturday

Thanks Gents- I keep thinking about that big kid doing the Clint Eastwood number on those wasps with a can of foam in each hand LOL- if they'd been yellowjackets, or even honeybees, he'd have been toast- his dad just stood back and shook his head. There were at least a dozen old nests on the ground from the last time they tried to get it running. Did I mention that it has all 3 original lights, precleaner basket, correct radiator cap with the wing, etc? Yeah, I'm pretty happy with this one- might let go of one of the SMD's and my nice 8N now, keep this one, the 350 Utility Diesel, and the Stage II SMD- it's starting to look like my gramp's old IH dealership lot around here..
