Starter, T6 IHC Year 1940

Need to find the delco starter # for the crawler. The one I have does not engage the ring gear. I found that there was a change in 1945 so I think I have the starter for the newer crawlers. I think the old one has a longer nose cone and definately a larger starter drive. Mine is ten tooth and misses by a quarter inch??? (hard to measure for sure) I was sent specs. on a twelve tooth but it is not much bigger. So I basically need to start from square one with the actual starter # Thanks to all.

Hey Ed,

From the IH Blue Ribbon Service Manual GSS-5033.
Does not give any S/N breaks

Starting Motor T-6
IH # 47870D DR# 1107435

Bendix Drive
Bendix# A-1639

Same Bendix as the U-6 power unit but the starter # is different.

As you probably already know, this is clockwise rotation as opposed to the Farmalls which use a CCW starter.

Hope this helps.
