Farmall H No Spark Driving me crazy

I have a 44 H with a distributor and I'm getting no spark. I looked through archives for info. I re wired system. I checked voltage on coil and it is good. Still no spark. I have an extra coil and replaced and still no spark. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

Are the contact points in good condition, nice and clean, and adjusted properly? What about the distributor cap and the rotor?

Thanks Rusty, I cleaned and adjusted points .020 inch. Shouldn't I get spark out of the coil first? I will look at glennster's link too.

Thanks Mark

The points are part of the coil system. If the points are dirty and not working then there is no way you will ever get spark since the points are what turns the coil on and off and that on and off is what causes the spark in the first place

Do you have a multimeter? Read the tips that Glennster posted and study how a distributor works so you know when/where you should have 12 volts and when not. It's a pretty simple system once you get your head around it. Probably either something's grounded (check all connections), not making contact (points and ignition switch), or you have a bad condenser.

There are several experts here and I am not one of them.
What I usually do in that situation is start at the spark plug and work backwards till I find spark or juice.
Spark plug, points, coil, battery.
It is more than likely the points or a bad wire.
Make sure all connections are "bright and tight".

Is this still 6v positive ground or has it been converted to 12v neg ground? Make sure the polarity on the coil is correct in either case.

Thanks for the kind words buttttttttttt Handsome (fraid not) Young (definitely not) Talented (thats open for debate) lol

Take care my friend
