I am working on an I-12 that is rough. Engine stuck. Clutch frozen. How do I pull the engine? 4 bolts at rear are out. Front mounts are free. Steering gear is off. Clutch should come out with the engine. Splined shaft seems to be frozen to clutch. Any suggestions?

i presume u are aware of the dowl pins in the bell housing. if the shaft is stuck in the disc u should be able to undo it at the trans. and remove everything as a unit.

You need to make sure all the bolts are out and it may have dowels that's keeping it tight on both sides of the bell housing. It may need some prying. Make sure you have that engine well supported. Hal

As El Toro pointed out - might need some prying.

One thing to keep in mind is being safe - that old iron is heavy so make sure everything is going to be supported when it all come apart- better to have a few back-up supports than to get hurt.

Good luck.

that tiny little engine can be pretty lifted out by hand. use a good lifting sling and no worries. biggest thing is dont drop the flywheel on your feet.

Thanks for all of your replies. Best advice was make sure all of the bolts are out. Is there a source of gaskets or perhaps a sleeve set for this tractor?
