Basic specs for a 450 Gas?

What did you get standard with a Farmall 450 gas tractor? I'm assuming disc brakes, TA, power steering, straight drawbar, live hydraulics? Many of the later M's & such in the area had the parallelogram hydraulic tool bar hitches, haven't seen this one in person yet. Looks pretty clean, seriously considering it, rather have a diesel of course but oh well. Any 450-specific problems to look for?

Standard, well, disc brakes. Other than that rest are options. Most have fast hitch, power steering, and independent pto with TA. Could have belt pulley attachment, wide front, fenders and a few other items. First year were 6 volt, next year was 12 volt system.

That pretty much describes ours. I'll add that the disc brakes eventually have a problem because the tractor itself provides the outer wear surfaces. (Tractor on one side, brake cover is the other) At some point machining has to be done. You can't just put in new brake parts and fix it. The general solution is to shave off some metal from the brake cover. Also the power steering torque motor gets worn out and likes to leak. Parts for those are difficult.

Quick question,... My 400 has had new brakes installed and they don't work.
How much of each brake cover do I need "shaved" off to make them work?

Thanks,

I am trying real hard to remember the specifics, but it has faded. My brother took care of it while I was away so the memory wasn't real strong anyways. Seems like it was in the 0.1" range as they were pretty bad. I'll try to find out but hopefully somebody will pop in a good typical number. The wear gets bad enough that all that extra room causes the expander to travel too far and the balls will jam in the V channel locking the brake. Not only annoying, but dangerous. They work fine now.

Well, just got a call and he can't remember either. We are thinking a good starting point is around 0.050" as he thinks it ended up at around 70 when all was done. It depends on how much wear you are dealing with. The good news is if you go too far, you can shim the out the cover with some hard washers. As I recall we guessed at the 100 point early on and it was too much. Some shims and a little silicone as filler and all was well. As time goes by we will take out the shims.
