I give up. I'm trying to get the wrist pin nut off the flywheel shaft on a 16A sickle mower so I can replace the pitman arm. I've tried heat and penetrating lubricant both with no luck. Any ideas on how to crack this nut? Is it by chance reverse threaded? All ideas welcome. thanks!

If all else fails take a sharp cold chisle and cut the nut off. If you can get an angle grinder in there grind one side off to expose the threads and then knock it off. A nut can always be found to replace that one.

It is a left hand thread. Be careful, they are hard to find if you have replace that counter shaft pulley.

Brad, if it is a left hand thread it would screw on by turning to the left or counterclockwise. To remove a left hand thread nut turn it clockwise or too the right looking at the threaded end where the nut is. Good luck, Hal.

A little more fight and I finally got it off....turning it the other way. I really had that sucker tightened up after a day of fighting with it. What a knucklehead! I also know why ScottyHOMEy likes his wrenches that are graduated in 32's. I never used a 31/32" wrench before this but it was invaluable. Thanks Grandpa for passing down the old tools and thanks everyone for the help, ya'll are great.
