what went here???

We just brought home a 1949 Super A today that we rescued from an overgrown field. They guy pulled it out of the barn yesterday and pulled it about 500 feet in an overgrown field to die under a dead oak tree.

The motor is stuck, and he said it was running 3 yrs ago, so we hope to get it going without too much work. We're going to pull the head though and go from there.

Anyways.....I noticed a place on the front right corner of the nose/grille and was wondering what decal used to be stuck there. I thought it was an odd place for a decal, and haven't seen it before. Take a look at the picture and let me know what yall think. I was thinking maybe a dealer decal because I've seen them on tractors before and thats close to the shape and size....but its an odd place to put one though.

Here is the picture.......

Just a thought -
Have you checked to see if the starter drive might be jammed in the flywheel ring gear? Common problem, locks up the engine. Loosen starter bolts to unjam.

Nothing is "supposed" to go there, so it really could've been anything... Dealer sticker? Some kid's superhero sticker? Vote for Nixon sticker?

Gene,

We tried to turn the engine with the engine hand crank and it wouldn't budge. When we got home, we drained the oil pan, and found 1/2 of it to be water (but it smelled like gas). We pulled the plugs and #3 was rusted badly. So.......

Saw a bumper sticker the other day... top line: I still miss Ike... bottom line: Hell I miss Harry! Thought it very fitting for the times.

HAHA, yea I figured it was a dealer sticket OR something random since I knew I had never seen that before and since it was in a weird place. But I thought I'd ask just in case it wasn't anything rare or different.

What do you guys think about me draining the oil pan and getting 1/2 water that Smelled Like Gas????

it looks like the remains of the square black border about a half an inch from the outside which would have been on the caution stickers, could have been a warning sticker about not removing the radiator cap when hot or something like that

My 53 super C has a sticker like that in the same place that says BE CAREFUL SYSTEM UNDER PRESSURE REMOVE CAP SLOWLY. my tractor has never been painted, the sticker is orginal. Jimmy
